The main characteristics of varistors are wide operating voltage range (6-3000V, divided into several grades) , fast response to overvoltage pulse (nanosecond level) , strong resistance to impulse current (100-2000A) , small leakage current (microampere level) , the resistance temperature coefficient is small, the performance is superior and cheap, the volume is small, is one kind of ideal protection element, may constitute the overvoltage protection circuit, the noise elimination circuit, the spark elimination circuit, the absorption circuit. When the over-voltage pulse is superimposed on the power supply network, after connecting the varistor, the peak waveform of the over-voltage is flattened and limited to a certain range. When the inductive and capacitive load circuit is turned on or off, the switch-tip pulse appears in the DC waveform, and the varistors can absorb the back-electric power in the circuit, thus effectively protecting the switch circuit from being damaged.
