Under normal conditions, the operation and shutdown of high-voltage capacitors need to be determined based on the reactive power flow of the system, power factor of the load, or voltage. For example, if the power factor value of a circuit is below 0.85, then the power factor of a high-voltage capacitor must be greater than or equal to 0.95, and it also needs to show an upward trend. The high-voltage capacitor bank should be decommissioned; When the system voltage is low, high-voltage capacitor banks can also be put into operation.

In some situations where work or environmental factors occur, high-voltage capacitors need to be removed from operation in a timely manner. For example, when the ambient temperature exceeds 40 degrees Celsius, it is necessary to strengthen the ventilation effect of the working environment. For example, when the voltage of the bus connected to the high-voltage capacitor exceeds 1.1 times the rated voltage of the capacitor or the current of the capacitor exceeds 1.3 times its rated current, the high-voltage capacitor also needs to stop running in a timely manner.

In addition to the above, it is necessary to promptly shut down the high-voltage capacitor when encountering some unexpected accidents:

a. Capacitor catching fire or exploding

b. Severe discharge and flashover of porcelain bushing

c. Severe overheating or melting of contacts

d. Serious abnormal noise from the internal or discharge equipment of the capacitor, as well as expansion of the outer shell of the high-voltage capacitor

Before using the high-voltage capacitor, it is necessary to inspect it. The capacitor should operate at the rated current, and the maximum current should not exceed 1.3 times the rated current. Otherwise, it should stop running. Also, whether there is any expansion or oil leakage in the outer shell of the capacitor, and whether there is heating inside the capacitor. If the above situations occur, they should be dealt with in a timely manner.
