Capacitors, also known as storage devices, are containers used to store charges and are important components in radio electronics technology. The earliest name for capacitors was the Leiden bottle. Because it was invented at Leiden University in the Netherlands, it is named Leiden.

The appearance of the Leiden bottle can be said to be a coincidence. A professor from Leiden University accidentally dropped a charged nail into a glass bottle while conducting an electrical experiment. Unexpectedly, when he took out the nail, there was still electricity on it! So the scientists repeated several experiments and found that glass bottles can indeed store electricity and prevent it from being lost.

After a long period of research, as long as there is a layer of insulation between two metal plates, it can be made into a capacitor, rather than a device like a Leiden bottle. Slowly, the Leiden bottle also withdrew from the historical stage, and capacitors replaced the Leiden bottle.
