Working principle of NTC thermistor in switching power supply
The main function of NTC thermistor in the switching power supply circuit is to suppress the surge current, and it is generally connected in series in the circuit. It has a rated zero-power resistance value, and when connected in series in the power circuit, it can effectively suppress the power-on surge current. Once the circuit is energized, the resistance will drop rapidly to negligible power consumption and have no effect on normal operating current. Using a power NTC thermistor to suppress inrush current and protect sensitive electronic equipment from damage is the lowest cost method.
