There are many types of safety Y capacitors, among which the most common are Y1 safety capacitors and Y2 safety capacitors. Does y1 replace Y2 capacitors?

To understand this issue, the first step is to clarify the difference between Y1 and Y2 capacitors.

1. The pressure resistance of the two is different.

The rated voltage of Y1 is 400VAC, and the withstand voltage can reach 4000VAC; The rated voltage of Y2 is 250VAC, and the withstand voltage can reach 2600VAC.

2. The foot distance between the two is not quite the same.

The foot pitch of Y1 is usually 10mm; The foot pitch of Y2 is usually 7.5mm;

3. The insulation types of the two are different.

Y1 belongs to double insulation or reinforced insulation; Y2 belongs to basic insulation or additional insulation.

4. The usage scenarios of the two are also different.

Y1 capacitor is used for bridging the primary and secondary sides; Y2 capacitor is used to bridge the primary side to protect the ground, i.e. FG line;

From the above, it can be seen that there is still a significant difference between Y1 and Y2 capacitors, so it is best not to use y1 as a substitute for Y2 capacitors.
